Earlier this summer Aerotech commissioned IMECHE (Institute of Mechanical Engineers) to conduct various radiography training courses at its head office in Cradley Heath. During these two weeks of courses and exams the following were completed:
Level 1 radiography – three technicians
Level 2 Radiography – three technicians
Level 1 Computed Radiography – three technicians
Level 2 Computed Radiography – three technicians
The completion of these courses and examinations once again demonstrates Aerotech’s commitment to investing in their workforce. The last few years has seen Aerotech’s customer base expand greatly thus resulting in a need for more radiographers and radiologists, with the three latest recruits gaining level 1 status it has allowed more experienced radiographers to broaden their skill set to computed radiography and progress to level 2 qualifications.
Quality Manager Mark Sprague said after the training courses “As a company we have always worked to ensure all employees have level 1 qualifications in at least one NDT discipline. With the recent recruitment of trainee technicians, we were keen to have them trained and qualified to level 1 as quickly as possible. The benefit of this was to allow several of our longer serving technicians to take level 2 examinations to support our existing senior radiographers in the sentencing of parts and producing techniques. Furthermore, with the company investing in the latest GE computed radiography technology it was essential to have the personnel to operate it. Having completed the NADCAP audit late last year the demand for Computed radiography has increased greatly. We are currently undertaking audit for Boeing to go with our accreditations for Rolls Royce, Airbus and Collins so this department will only grow and grow.
Aerotech would like to thank Andy Fox and all at IMECHE for their long-standing support and their work putting on the two weeks of training and exams.
